You may notice from my quote that I didn’t say liquidate my assets. While belongings are considered assets, I am speaking mainly about items that you can not or should not take with you. We all have our stuff that we must have, and I made arrangements to bring some items in the future after I get settled. My first step was to list all of my belongings, and I used AI to assist.
Here’s a list of assets to consider when moving from one country to another:
Tangible Assets:
Household goods (furniture, appliances, etc.)
Personal effects (clothing, jewelry, etc.)
Vehicles (cars, motorcycles, etc.)

Artwork, antiques, or collectibles

Bank accounts (checking, savings, etc.)
Investments (stocks, bonds, etc.)

Intangible Assets:
Intellectual property (patents, trademarks, etc.)
Digital assets (domain names, online businesses, etc.)
Social media accounts and online presence
Professional licenses and certifications
Important Documents:
Passports and visas
Birth and marriage certificates
Divorce or death certificates (if applicable)
Identification documents (driver’s license, etc.)
Insurance policies (health, life, etc.)
Tax documents and records
Other Considerations:
Pets’ health certificates and vaccination records
Plants or plant products (if applicable)
Firearms or other restricted items

Logistical Considerations:
Hiring a reputable moving company
Understanding customs regulations and duties
Coordinating logistics and transportation
Setting up utilities and services in the new country
